AI Search · GEO / AEO
Generative Engine Optimization with measured citations — not buzzwords.
Search is shifting from links to answers. When a prospective customer asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Mode who to hire, either your brand is in the answer or a competitor's is. I build that visibility the way I build everything: measured. On my current healthcare engagement, AI citations went from zero to 600+ tracked responses across AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Grok and Copilot.

In one paragraph
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) — also called AI Search Optimization or Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) — is the practice of earning visibility and citations for a brand inside AI-generated answers: Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity and Claude. It combines entity-focused structured data, AI-readable content architecture, authority signals, and citation-source targeting — with visibility tracked across a defined set of commercial prompts.
What the work actually is
- Entity and schema foundation. Structured data that disambiguates who you are, what you do, and where — so models resolve your brand as an entity, not a string. Plus llms.txt and AI-crawler access done right (blocking AI bots kills citations; most security defaults do exactly that).
- AI-readable content architecture. Definition-first pages, extractable answer blocks, question-structured sections — content formatted the way answer engines quote.
- Citation-source targeting. Models cite from a specific set of sources per topic. We identify which domains feed answers in your category and earn presence there.
- Measurement. A defined prompt set for your category tracked weekly: citations, share of voice, which platform, which source page. GA4 channel segmentation isolates AI-referral traffic so the pipeline contribution is visible, not vibes.
Why now
The category is young enough that positions are cheap. On tracked commercial prompts in my current client's vertical, competitors are largely absent — the citations we built face no contest. That window closes the way every early channel closes: slowly, then suddenly. The reasoning is laid out in What AI search means for patient acquisition.
| Tier | Price · turnaround | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $750 · 7 days | AI-visibility audit: current citations, crawlability, schema gaps, competitor AI presence + roadmap. |

| Advanced | $2,500 · 30 days | Everything in Standard + 5 pages optimized for AI citation + tracking setup + 30-day re-measurement report. |
How it fits the rest of the system
GEO is not a separate religion — it's the third leg of one acquisition system with SEO and paid search. The same query research feeds all three; organic authority raises citation probability; and everything reports into the same CRM-verified framework as the rest of my work.
| Platform | What feeds it | Tracking |
|---|---|---|
| Google AI Overviews / AI Mode | Indexed pages + entity signals | AIO query set, weekly |
| ChatGPT | Bing index + citations from source sites | Prompt-set checks |
| Gemini | Google index + structured data | Prompt-set checks |
| Copilot | Bing index (IndexNow matters) | Prompt-set checks |
| Perplexity | Own crawl + cited domains | Prompt-set + referral regex in GA4 |

Questions owners ask
Straight answers
Is GEO different from SEO?
It builds on SEO — authority and crawlability still matter — but adds entity work, answer-formatted content, citation-source strategy and its own measurement. Ranking #3 in blue links and being the quoted answer in an AI response are different outcomes.
Can AI search visibility actually be measured?
Yes: define a prompt set with commercial intent, track responses weekly across platforms, log citations and share of voice, and segment AI-referral traffic in GA4. That's the exact stack behind the 600+ figure on this page.
How long does GEO take to show results?
First citations typically appear within weeks of the entity and content foundation shipping; meaningful share of voice on a tracked prompt set builds over one to two quarters.
Do you guarantee placement in ChatGPT or AI Overviews?
No one honestly can — models change. What I guarantee is the measurement: you'll see exactly which prompts cite you, where, and how it trends.
Is this GEO / AEO / LLM-SEO?
Yes — different names, same discipline: making your site the source AI systems retrieve and cite.
How fast do citations appear?
Technical fixes can show impact in weeks; content-driven citations build over 1–3 months. The Advanced tier includes re-measurement so it's tracked, not guessed.
Can't we just block AI bots instead?
I will not recommend blocking AI bots or "AI-proofing" your site — that's how you disappear from these results entirely.
